I thought the story opened well, and I appreciated the way Goodman created and maintained the feeling of menace and unease throughout the book. I liked the way she used the Changeling fairytale. I enjoyed the history of Lily and Vera. In fact, there was a lot that I liked about the book, which made me waver for awhile between 2 and 3 stars. But it turned out that the mystery wasn’t all that intriguing, and the ending seemed contrived and anticlimactic. "It was OK" pretty much sums up my overall reaction, but I’d be willing to try another book from this author.
